The FDSC offers an additional 25% tax credit on monetary donations up to $1,000 for eligible first-time donors.

Who is eligible?

If neither you nor your spouse or common-law partner has claimed the Charitable Donation Tax Credit in the past five years, you are eligible to claim the FDSC.

Which donations are eligible?

Monetary donations made after March 20, 2013 qualify for the FDSC.

When can the FDSC be claimed?

The FDSC can be claimed once between the 2013 and 2017 tax years.

How can I earn over $500 in tax credits?

For an eligible First-Time Donor’s monetary donation of $1,000, the following tax credits apply:

First $200 of charitable donations claimed $200 x 15% = $30

Charitable donations claimed in excess of $200 $800 x 29% = $232

First-Time Donor’s Super Credit $1,000 x 25% = $250

Total FDSC and CDTC = $512
