PCH Foundation Launches Most Ambitious Vital Signs Appeal Yet
May 6, 2026

Summerside, PEI – The Prince County Hospital Foundation is launching its most ambitious Vital Signs appeal yet, seeking to raise $3,233,410 for essential medical equipment.

The cornerstone of the 2026 campaign is the replacement of the hospital’s aging CT Scanner with a state-of-the-art model, an investment of $975,000. Representing nearly a third of the total campaign, the CT Scanner is a true workhorse in the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Unit at PCH, serving as a window into the body that nearly every department relies upon, from sudden trauma cases to preventative checks. Every day at Prince County Hospital, patients look to DI to provide answers when their own bodies cannot.

When the current CT Scanner was installed in 2016, it saw 5,794 patients in its first year. Last fiscal year alone, it helped 13,321 people, more than double that initial figure. After a decade of service, the machine is reaching retirement and must be replaced.

The new CT Scanner promises a faster, more comfortable experience and produces clearer images than ever before. The scanner automatically adjusts to each body type, ensuring patients receive the highest-quality scan with a lower radiation dose.

While the CT Scanner is a major focus, the Vital Signs campaign is dedicated to the greatest needs of the entire facility. The $3,233,410 total goal will fund life-sustaining technology across multiple units. This includes upgrading simulation training tools in the Maternal Child Care and Intensive Care Units; investing in new surgical instrumentation for minimally invasive procedures; and enhancing mobility with new equipment to help rehabilitation patients regain their independence.

A donation to the Vital Signs appeal is a direct investment in the health of neighbours, family, and the community, ensuring that advanced technology is waiting right here when an emergency arises.
