The 23rd Lights for Life will take place, Wednesday, December 6th at 6:30 pm at PCH.
Throughout the month of November, supporters remembered and honoured loved ones with a gift dedication to the Prince County Hospital Foundation. These dedications have been compiled in the annual Lights for Life book to be released on December 6th at the lighting ceremony.
Beginning at 6:15PM, you can join the PCH Foundation for the annual Lights for Life Celebration – the largest lighting ceremony of its kind on PEI. The PCH Staff choir will entertain the crowd with live carolling and the Lights for Life dedication books will be distributed. Attendees can enjoy hot chocolate, coffee, cider and cookies before the official agenda begins at 6:30PM. Following a short ceremony to acknowledge sponsors and announce the grand total raised, the lighting will begin. This wonderful display will illuminate the sky as the lights and displays move to the music that has been thoughtfully choreographed.
“This year we have received an incredible number gifts to Lights for Life. It is heartening to see this type of support for an event that is both solemn and joyful. These donations will make a huge impact in our efforts to raise the $2.5 million needed for medical equipment at PCH this year,” remarked Managing Director Heather Matheson.
Lights for Life has raised over $3.2 million to support new medical equipment (not including 2017 dollars). Gifts to Lights for Life can still be made until December 31st by calling the Foundation office at (902) 432-2547, donating securely online at www.pchcare.com, or you can visit the Foundation office in the lobby at PCH.
If the event must be postponed dues to weather, it will take place on Thursday evening at the same time. Any announcements will be made on this website, facebook.com/pchfoundation and Spud FM.
PARKING
Guests are asked to park at the Atlantic Superstore and Walmart and walk to the hospital. There will be a shuttle service available from the Superstore parking lot on a “load & go” basis. This service (courtesy of Summerside Chrysler Dodge) will be available between 5:45 and 6:15 PM. They will return guests after the ceremony. There is no public parking on site other than staff, patients, event volunteers, and patient visitors. The MacEwen Rd entrance will otherwise be closed to general traffic as directed by volunteers from the Summerside Lions Club and Summerside Police. LIMITED PARKING Starting at 6:00PM, approximately 50 parking spaces will be provided for the elderly and people with disabilities in the public parking lot. Vehicles must display valid disability parking tag or have occupants who are clearly elderly.
