Over the past few years the staff at Callbecks Home Hardware and Callbecks Home Furniture & Appliances has been working tirelessly to raise funds for their hospital. Over the course of that time the staff members had many fundraising projects including dress down Fridays and new candy machines in the stores with 100% of profits going to the PCH Foundation. They even created their own 50/50 draw all in hopes of making a substantial gift. Recently this culminated in a donation of $11,300.00 that was presented to Prince County Hospital Foundation Board member Paul Power, second from left. Presenting on behalf of the staff (from front left) are Duane MacDonald (Callbecks owner), Monica Poirier, Ruth MaCarville, Cathy Clow, Linda McCardle, Bonnie Farrell, Heather Allan, Kaitlyn MacNevin. “We are extremely happy to be able to make this donation on behalf of our staff,” says Duane MacDonald. “They have worked very hard and came up with a lot of creative fundraising ideas which helped make the process fun and it is rewarding to know this is going to help so many people at our local hospital. Many thanks to our dedicated staff for their hard work and our customers for helping contribute by participating in our fundraising campaigns for the Prince Country Hospital Foundation.”
Last week, the staff selected patient chairs for nursing areas, as well as a sleeper chair for the Maternal Child Care Unit from the list of greatest needs from the upcoming 2018 Vital Signs Equipment Appeal. “The staff at these two family owned businesses are incredible,” said Paul Power. “They have really gone above and beyond to help their hospital, carrying on a long tradition of support from Callbecks Home Hardware and Callbecks Home Furniture & Appliances.”
