Recently, Mayor Basil Stewart, second from right, was joined by Councillor Vance Bridges, far right in presenting a cheque to Heather Matheson, managing director of the Prince County Hospital Foundation (PCHF), and Derek Key, far left, past president of PCHF. The City of Summerside has made a “Leadership Gift†to the Vital Signs Annual Equipment Campaign at Prince County Hospital Foundation. The City has committed $200,000 to the Foundation to be used for the purchase of priority medical equipment at the PCH. To be paid in instalments of $20,000 over the course on 10 years, the funds will continue to support the hospital and the people it serves well into the future.
According to PCH Foundation Managing Director Heather Matheson, “This large gift and extended commitment by the City of Summerside shows that the mayor and council truly understand how vital the hospital is to the city of Summerside, Prince County, and the rest of PEI. It plays an important role in the city, providing not only an important service but also employment for Islanders.â€
The Prince County Hospital Foundation is attempting to raise $970,210 for priority medical equipment at the PCH this fall in their Vital Signs Annual Equipment Campaign. Items on their equipment list include a new echocardiogram machine ($102,125), a portable ultrasound machine ($51,125) and “This gift means a great deal to our campaign,†says Matheson. “We are currently sitting at 52% of our goal for 2010, and this gift will put a large dent in that goal!â€
