UPDATED- Grass Roots & Cowboy Boots Results
Hitch up your wagons and shoe the horses, “Grass Roots and Cowboy Boots” is coming back for a 10th ride. This fundraising dinner, auction, and show in support of the Prince County Hospital Foundation will take place on September 8th at the Credit Union Place. Attended each year by a crowd of over 1300, guests are treated to live entertainment all evening by local musicians and they will be joined this year by comedian Jimmy the Janitor. The steak and lobster dinner will be back on the menu and will be followed by a live auction with Allison Smith and a cavalcade of wonderful items up for grabs. The evening will culminate with a draw for a brand new Jeep Wrangler Sport courtesy of the organizer Warren Ellis, left, and Summerside Chrysler Dodge. Mr. Ellis is joined in the photo by his son Brody, back right, and the Vice President of the PCH Foundation’s volunteer board of directors, Liz Maynard. The event is also possible due to the ongoing support of our sponsors the City of Summerside.
Warren Ellis and his family have been the main benefactors of this event since it began. The concept of a small dinner has blossomed over the years into the largest and most successful fundraising event of its kind on PEI. Since 2009, it has raised $5,421,000 in cash donations and future pledges to support the purchase of medical equipment for the Prince County Hospital. For many years the medical equipment needed for patients at PCH has been provided through the kindness of public donations just like these. “The support of this fundraiser and the donations made that night are of the utmost importance to our organization and our mission to make sure the medical professionals at PCH have everything they need to continue to providing the best patient care on PEI,” said Liz Maynard.
This year the Foundation must raise over $1.5 million for medical equipment and technology at PCH. Paramount on the list this year is the need to replace the equipment in the main digital radiography room (X-Ray); that piece alone is valued at $550,000. A host of other important items needed in a variety of departments at PCH make up the Vital Signs Appeal for 2018; a complete list of which is available on pchare.com.
Please note – the dinner is NOW SOLD OUT. Jeep only tickets can be purchased at the PCH Foundation office in the hospital lobby.
