Thanks to more than 1800 donors, Lights for Life has raised an astounding $275,935! That is the largest total since the fundraiser began in 1995.
“In a year of uncertainty, the one thing we could all depend on was each other,” says Heather Matheson, Managing Director of the Prince County Hospital Foundation. “People from across PEI make so much possible, especially here at the Prince County Hospital. The incredible number of gifts made to Lights for Life this year will make a huge impact in healthcare at PCH.”
Throughout the month of November, supporters dedicated lights and displays by donation in memory and in honour of their loved ones through the PCH Foundation. All of those light dedications are gathered in a keepsake book that is available in a kiosk outside the front door of PCH. All donations support the purchase of medical equipment through the Foundation’s $1.5 million 2020 Vital Signs Appeal for the hospital’s greatest needs. These gifts bring the entire front of the hospital to life with a multitude of holiday lights and displays synchronized to music.
This celebratory lighting at the PCH in Summerside is normally an event that hosts hundreds of people and officially brings the lights to life for the month of December. This year, respecting CPHO COVID-19 guidelines, the single-night event is replaced with nightly light shows all month at 7pm and 8pm in front of PCH. Viewers can enjoy the show from the comfort of their cars by tuning in to 98.5 FM when they arrive. After the show, you are encouraged to see the new Lights for Life expansion along the board walk near the Shipyard and Green’s Shore on Water Street. These downtown displays dedicated by donors in partnership with Downtown Summerside and The City of Summerside also support PCH.
Lights for Life is not possible without the support of our valued sponsors including the Credit Unions of Prince County who have been the title event sponsors for 13 years now! We thank them as well as our Gold and Silver level supporters.
