PCH Auxiliary Gives Islanders a Lift!

The Prince County Hospital Auxiliary has helped to kick off the 2011 annual equipment campaign for the Prince County Hospital Foundation with a bang.  They have made a gift of $20,000 to provide patient ceiling lifts for various departments at PCH.  PCHA members Debbie MacLellan, president, second from right, Jan Lockhart, treasurer, right, and Darlene Arsenault, second from left, present PCH Foundation managing director Heather Matheson with the donation.

These lifts are vital to patient and staff safety as they assist in the transportation of patients to and from hospital beds.  At a recent Foundation event, president MacLellan said, “These 8 ceiling lifts are to be placed (in various departments) throughout the hospital.  It is definitely an item that will be of benefit to both the patient and the staff in that there should be less risk of injury to staff and more comfort to patients who are to be relocated.  In the end that’s really what it’s all about.”

These ceiling lifts are part of the PCH Foundation’s Vital Signs annual equipment campaign, in which they hope to raise $1.1 Million in 2011. For more information on the Prince County Hospital Foundation, the PCH Auxiliary, and more, visit pchcare.com.
